Infor Welcomes its New CEO Charles Philips: What’s In Store for Infor?
In the last months of 2010, business software company Infor named their new Chief Executive Officer with no other than former oracle Co-President Charles Phillips. Phillips left his position in Oracle in September of 2010 and was replaced by the ousted CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Mark Hurd. Apparently, Phillips informed oracle CEO Lawrence Ellison on his exit from Oracle and he totally respects his decision and Phillips is just enthralled to work at a new environment with new challenges to conquer. The CEO of Infor, Jim Schaper will step down as Chairman and will still continue to play a vital role for Infor’s success.
In spite of the many doubts whether or not it is the best decision to get Phillips for the job, Schaper sets all of the controversies aside and looked at the diverse set of skills, direct industry experience and performance track record that can beat out any doubts a person would have over Phillips. Hiring Phillips would probably be the boldest move for Infor and Schaper do not regret making it as he is confident that true results that matter will be delivered now that an innovator is on their side. For Schaper, Charles Phillips is nothing short of a visionary with his tactless sales and promotion moves that are guaranteed to reduce costs and up sales in no time. He has a unique paradigm which is drawn from hi9s experience working with Oracle and previously on Wall Street.
If one will do a background check on Phillips, he will probably be more than impressed with his stellar record and employment history which will reflect his efficiency. His jump from being a database leader to being company president for Oracle would probably open a lot of jaws. Can one think of any other person that would be promoted as president with just a year of service? Clearly, Oracle saw something in him which made them promote him unhesitatingly. This is the same quality that Schaper expects from Phillips to exceed.
Presently, Infor has been the third largest enterprise resource software solutions all over the world, and who knows, with Phillips on their turf, they might have a shot for the elusive top spot. Charles Phillips is known as the master of acquisitions as he had acquired quite a handful of them during his time with Oracle. He might just be the catalyst that Infor needs to lay out a plan that shall surge for its global success. To date, Infor has seventy companies and seventy thousand customers. Now with Phillips as CEO, they hope he will be an instrument to see this number go up by hundreds and even by thousands.
